I am Shari Tripp and I have taught belly dance in Alpine since Fall, 2004. My sister, Renda (1944-2002 pictured at right) was my inspiration to begin teaching belly dance in Alpine, Texas.  She was a belly dancer in the Dallas area performing individually and with groups. She got me involved in the early 70s when I began making her costumes.

The Mystic Gitanas dance troupe had their first performance at Fiesta del Sol the summer of 2005. Our dance troupe has performed over 50 times in Alpine, Marfa, Fort Davis, the Villa de la Mina mine in Terlinqua, and El Paso, Texas.

We perform for all types of audiences--retirement celebrations, birthday parties, private parties, belly dance competitions, nursing homes,  Senior Circle dinners, grand openings, school functions, and most any occasion that invites us to perform.  We get great reception and that encourages us to keep performing!

Our students come from various dance backgrounds. What began as a small class of close friends in 2004 has grown much beyond my wildest expectations.  I love seeing my students dance without me in the lineup–I am very proud of them and honored to see their accomplishments, personal growth and talent.  We are a family and sisterhood.
